Scallop Festival in Saint-Brieuc

One weekend in April, the Bretons dedicate their own festival to their precious scallops, which attracts up to 70,000 visitors every year: On two days - always at a different location in the bay of Saint-Brieuc - there are concerts by Breton musicians and excursions on fishing boats, during which participants can experience the scallop hunt up close.

A boat parade takes place in the bay and on land the scallops - gratinated, au gratin or in a vinaigrette - can be tasted.
Events in honour of the scallop are not limited to the Bay of Saint-Bieuc.

Port-en-Bessin Port

In neighbouring Normandy, the inhabitants of Port-en-Bessin celebrate their "Taste of the Sea" festival at the beginning of November, where not only the Coquille Saint Jacques but also mussels, fish and shellfish are put on the plates.
And in December, the great scallop festival starts in Grandcamp-Maisy.
