More than 500 different types of cheese can be tasted at around 75 stands at the cheese fair in Trujillo at the beginning of May: The local Torta del Casar, Mahón from the Balearic Islands or Queso de Roncal from Navarre.
Every year, this unique selection attracts around 200,000 visitors to Francisco Pizarro's birthplace.

In addition to the tastings, the Cheese Fair offers complementary activities. A workshop in the Plaza Mayor will show how cheese is made.
A Cheese Contest will award prizes for the best cheese in four categories: Hard and soft cheeses made from sheep's or goat's milk.
