Apple Festival in Lingen an der Ems
They are called Schöner von Nordhausen, Gelber Richard or even Kaiser Wilhelm: three of more than 60 old apple varieties that thrive on the orchard meadows of Clusorth-Bramhar in southern Emsland.
The organisers of the apple festival in Lingen have set themselves the goal of preserving them.
The highlight of the two-day district festival is the coronation of the apple queen and the cutting of the world's largest apple strudel at 40 metres. At the stands, craftsmen, shepherds and fruit growers will give an insight into their work.
There is cider, coffee and cake. If you like, you can see the community and the surrounding countryside from the air: During a balloon ride or a helicopter flight.
