Budapest Wine Festival

Budapest Wine Festival by Night

22 Hungarian wine regions, around 200 sales and tasting stands and thousands of visitors every year: the Budapest Wine Festival on Castle Hill above the Danube is one of the great oenological festivals in Europe.
Nowhere else do you have the opportunity to get to know wines from all the wine-growing regions of the country. And all this against the historical backdrop of the magnificent Castle Palace.

Convivial round at the Budapest Wine Festival

Around 200 winegrowers from Tokaj, Badacsony, Eger or Sopron present their wines around the castle - in commented tastings, in workshops where wine pairs are presented and compared or simply at one of the many wine stands.
In addition, each year a guest country does the honours and is also represented with a selection of its precious wines.

And at the Wine University, experts will talk about the development of Hungary as a wine country.
Charity auctions, a wine quiz, a guided tour of the castle museum and a cheese contest are also on the festival programme.

Restaurants outside the castle also offer a special festival menu.
If you like, book a table at the castle terrace - with a dream view of the Danube and the opposite bank - or enjoy Hungarian and international specialities at one of the food stalls.

Budapest Wine Festival: Traditional Dances

The festival also includes a wide-ranging musical and folkloristic programme: a Thanksgiving procession in typical Hungarian costume moves from the Matthias Church to the Palace.
Traditional Hungarian folk dances are performed and various folklore groups as well as modern bands play until late into the night.
