Around 30,000 visitors gather every year in the small municipality of Brda on the Slovenian-Italian border for the cherry festival.
The event focuses on the red fruits, the most varied varieties can be tasted: Fresh from a tree, as jam or in a cake, as liqueur or schnapps.

The event kicks off with a bicycle marathon from Ljubljana to Brda on Saturday, but there is also a sporting event on Sunday: a walk through the cherry groves.
You will always come across winegrowers who open their cellars to visit and taste the wines.

A highlight is the traditional parade of the farmers of Brda. On elaborately decorated carriages they show traditional customs and habits as well as historical agricultural implements.
