Caper Festival

Caper Blossom

At the beginning of June, Pollara, a sleepy nest on the island of Salina, awakes from its slumber:
the village, situated in the middle of an extinct volcanic crater, celebrates its most important agricultural product: the capers.

They come in 1001 variations: Antipasti preserved in oil, in pasta, rice, fish and meat dishes or sweet in panettone.
The traditional Christmas cake is enjoyed here instead of with candied fruit, spicy caper berries and a few drops of malvasia.
