Trout, carp, pike-perch and catfish are "harvested" at the fishing festival in Gallien at the end of October.
Visitors can help haul in the nets, marvel at the large and small fish  - and of course buy them.
On the festival days there is fish soup, grilled and smoked fish, but also suckling pig.

But not only in Gallien, in the whole Waldviertel the nets are hauled in and the fish harvest is duly celebrated in autumn.
For example, fishing festivals are also held in Heidenreichstein, at the Ziering pond near Ottenstein, in Hessendorf and at the monastery pond at Geras Abbey.
