Franciacorta is the name of a still young DOC wine region in Lombardy, which is mainly known for its excellent sparkling wine.
Thanks to strict quality guidelines, it has almost champagne quality.
You can see for yourself at the Franciacorta Festival in Cantina in mid-September.

Then, over one weekend, around 76 wineries - from the renowned Berlucchi winery in Borgonato di Corte Franca to Ca Del Bosco in Erbusco and Villa Franciacorte in Monticelli Brusati - open their doors and invite visitors to extensive wine tastings.

In addition to the classic Franciacorta sparkling wine, the creamy Satén, the fine Rosé, the vintage sparkling wines, Millesimiati, which mature for at least 30 months before they are sold, or the even more complex Riservas, which lie on their lees for at least five years, will be tasted.
The wine is accompanied by small Italian winegrowers' snacks.

The organisers have organised 25 bus tours to the wineries, there are rim, walking and Nordic walking tours through the vineyards and the opportunity to visit one of the many cultural sights of the region - such as Palazzo Torri in Nigoline or the wine museum in Capriolo.
