The town of Pilsen in the west of the Czech Republic prides itself on being the inventor of Pilsen beer. The top-fermented brew took its triumphal march from here to the whole world in 1842.
The town fathers remember this with a colourful festival in mid-September.

The programme includes sightseeing tours of the host brewery, piercing of beer specially brewed for the festival, traditional dance and music groups, as well as performances by pop and rock artists.
