Denmark's southern islands have an exceptionally good climate for fruit growing: significantly more sunshine and less rain than the national average.
This is why Lolland, Falster, Fejø, Femø, Askø and Lilleø have been the centres of Danish fruit growing for more than 100 years.

During the annual fruit festival at Sakskøbing on Lolland, visitors can buy all kinds of fruit and fruit products at more than 50 different market stalls: Freshly picked or processed as jam, wine, brandy or vinegar.

The event takes place in the historic town centre of the municipality first mentioned in 1240. Attractions are a cooking competition with the participation of the best chefs from Scandinavia.
A tasting of Danish fruit cakes, a cooking workshop for children and a series of sporting events such as marathons and cycling races.
