Wine Festival at the Middle Moselle
The Moselle region is Germany's oldest wine-growing area and famous for its steep slopes. Especially the vineyards in the Bernkastel-Kues region have slopes of up to 70 percent.
In laborious handwork, the winegrowers there harvest excellent grapes for outstanding wines.
At the end of August and the beginning of September, the wine festival on the Middle Moselle takes place in the town that gives its name to the region.
At the opening of the tasting and sales stands, many visitors slip into the traditional costume and board the Wine Route. Whoever wears a a winegrower's coat gets a sweet reward and takes part in a raffle.
Other attractions include the reception of the wine queen Mosella, the big fireworks festival and the magnificent wine parade.
The festival also opens with a large amusement park and an arts and crafts market on the banks of the Kueser Moselle.
