Bolzano Wine Tasting

The winegrowing region of Bolzano lies in a sun-drenched valley basin at an altitude of 250 to 900 metres. Above all, the winegrowers grow red wine on the gravel and alluvial soils: Strong Lagrein and spicy Vernatsch.
But also filigree whites are among them.

In the midst of vineyards, on the outskirts of the town, lies the almost thousand-year-old Maretsch Castle.
Once the seat of the Römer family, who were associated with the Reigning Prince of Tyrol, it is now a conference and event centre.

This is where the Bolzano wine tasting takes place in mid-March: A meeting of around 40 winegrowers from all over South Tyrol, who bring almost 200 wines to taste and get to know.
Co-organiser is Slow Food, which invites you to seminars on wine, cheese and bread.

In addition to culinary events, there are guided walks to the vineyards - and some winegrowers open their cellars to visitors. In the evening - around 9 p.m. - a colourful music programme provides entertainment.
