Cherries in the Jerte Valley in the province of Cáceres


About 15,000 tons of cherries are harvested annually in the fruit plantations of Jerte
, more than 100 different varieties grow in the valley in the province of Cáceres.
Jerte's fruit growers are particularly proud of their Navalinda, which bears the Protected Designation of Origin seal of approval.

The cherry festival in Valle del Jerte


At the beginning of June, when the harvest is already underway, the valley celebrates its cherry festival, which includes cherry tastings, games and walks through the cherry plantations.
During the gastronomic weeks in honour of the cherry - from the beginning of June to the end of July - numerous restaurants offer their guests sweet and salty cherry dishes.

Nature Reserve Garganta de los Infiernos


The local cooperatives also open their doors to visitors.
There are also exhibitions, tastings of typical regional products, musical performances and guided excursions to the Garganta de los Infiernos nature reserve.
