Chouricas Sausage Festival
The mountainous hinterland of the Algarve is known for its hearty pork sausages. Also in Querenca, at the foot of the Serra de Caldeirão, spicy sausages are grilled - and not only during the Festa das Chouricas at the end of January.
'The feast in honour of Saint São Luís begins the evening before with a fado night. '
The following day, a market opens with local products and barbecue stalls where the Chourica, the paprika sausage, is grilled. Music, dancing and a procession round off the event.
