Dresdner Christ-Stollen Festival
Every year on the second weekend of Advent, the Dresden celebrate their Stollen Festival, which is considered one of the highlights of the Dresden Striezelmarkt. Highlights of the festival are the baking of a giant stollen weighing three to four tons and the traditional procession of Dresden's bakers and confectioners through the baroque Old Town - the so-called Stollen Procession.
From the Schloßplatz, the parade route leads along the most beautiful sights of the state capital in the direction of the Striezelmarkt.
Thousands of individual portions of the huge pastry are cut with the 1.60-meter-long, twelve-kilogram Stollen knife and sold to festival visitors.
The Schutzverband Dresdner Stollen e. V. donates a large part of the proceeds to a charitable institution and the promotion of young bakers.
