Festival of Mustard Fruits
Mustard, Italian Mostarda, are an Italian speciality in which various fruits are marinated in a Mostarda syrup. In Cremona, this sweet and spicy delicacy, which goes perfectly with cheese or cold roast, has been produced since the 16th century.
The city in Lombardy - birthplace of Stradivari, Amati, and Guarneri - is also the scene for the Festival della Mostarda.
An event that promotes the speciality with an extensive programme: local producers sell their products in the "Village of Mostarda".
And in the Palamostarda in the community garden of Cremona, show cooking conferences are organised with the participation of critics, chefs and producers.
A week before, an exhibition of local mustard producers will take place in neighbouring Mantua under the Loggia del Grano of Palazzo Andreani - of course with tastings.
