Truffles from Sweden? Who knows them? But in Gotland, spoiled by the sun and with its calcareous soil, the valuable tuber thrives excellently.
Visitors can see for themselves every year in November during the Gotland Truffle Festival. A truffle market then takes place in the old Hanseatic city of Visby, where collectors offer their booty for sale.

Truffle seminars are also organized to learn more about the world of truffles and their tasty preparation.
The absolute highlight of the festival is a six-course truffle banquet prepared by the best chefs of the "Kulinariska Gotland" organisation.

Of course, the festival also offers the opportunity to hunt truffles yourself. On Sunday truffle lovers meet at the east coast of the island and can go in company of experts as well as trained truffle dogs on the search for the black gold.
