Kulmbach Beer Week

Evening atmosphere at the Kulmach Beer Week

Below Plassenburg Castle, the Kulmbach Beer Weeks take place every year at the end of July, beginning of August. Over nine days, around 120,000 visitors crowd the beer tables and enjoy the festival beers brewed especially for the event or one of the other many varieties from the local breweries. The innkeepers serve hearty Franconian cuisine, especially Kulmbach Bratwurst in an aniseed bun.

Festival stage at the Kulmach Beer Week

A highlight of the festival is the traditional keg tapping. And the procession of Kulmbach beer fan clubs from all over the world.
Some of them, like the EKU fan club from the USA, have traveled around 7,000 kilometers to take part in the procession with standards, mascots and flags from the Kulmbach brewery grounds through the city center to the Bierstadl.

Traditional Schäfflertanz at the Kulmach Beer Week

Live music by local and regional bands, performances by music societies and traditional costume bands are also part of the program on all days, as are Maßkrugstemmen, a contest for the best toasts or the traditional Schäfflertanz - the guild dance of the barrel makers.
