Onion Festival Höri Bülle
Höri Bülle is the name of an onion variety from Lake Constance that is distinguished by its sweet taste. But because its characteristic shape - flat and bulbous - as well as its lower storage capacity, make it unsuitable for industrial production, it is less and less cultivated.
The Höri-Bülle association wants to counter the threat of extinction - among other things with a folk festival.
Every year on the first Sunday in October, the onion is celebrated in a different place on the Lake Constance peninsula of Höri: With a church service and subsequent market, which opens the mayor of the place.
For one day visitors can buy Hori Bülle, braided into a colourful plait. Or enjoy Bülle-Dünne, a kind of onion pizza, with a glass of sweet must.
There will also be music, information and a quiz about onions.
