Saint-Vincent Tournante Wine Festival
At the end of January the winegrowers gather in Burgundy to thank Saint Vincent for the past harvest and to ask him in a large procession for his protection for the next harvest.
The festival, whose roots go back to the Middle Ages, takes place in a different village every year.
Traditionally, the event begins with the morning procession of the 90 winegrowing societies of St Vincent, which ends with a mass in the village church.
Afterwards the oldest winegrowers of the Brotherhood will be honoured on stage - and the cellars of the local winegrowers will be opened for guided tours and tastings. Each year the focus is on a different application.
There will be tastings of various grape juices for children and Burgundy delicacies for gourmets.
And at the Parc de la Mairie various bands will play live for the guests - some years there will be around 40,000 visitors.
