Vin Jaune Wine Festival
The Percée du Vin Jaune wine festival is always held in the Jura department on the first weekend of February. The famous yellow wine is celebrated: a strong, aromatic wine made from Savagnin grapes that is aged in oak barrels for six years and three months, losing 40 percent of its volume before it can be tasted.
The location of the event changes from year to year. In 2020 Ruffey-sur-Seille was the host, The venue for 2021 is not yet known. The small town with barely more than 550 inhabitants will then be a meeting place for wine lovers from all over France, Switzerland and Germany.
The winegrowers open their wine cellars to them to taste the noble, nutty and powerful wine as well as other specialities from three regions, such as the red Poulsard or the sweet Vin de Paille. '
There is a street parade, cooking competitions and musical entertainment.
