Westhoffen Cherry Festival

Fairground: Westhoffen Cherry Festival

More than 5,000 cherry trees grow in the small community, which with 235 hectares of AOC vineyards is also one of the largest wine-growing areas in the Couronne d'Or and, with 1,000 hectares of forest, is also a popular destination for hikers.
In mid-June - at the peak of the cherry harvest - the residents celebrate their Fete des Cerises, which attracts hundreds of visitors every year.

Cherry Queen: Westhoffen Cherry Festival

A colourful programme awaits them over two days: Saturday begins with a market for handicrafts and regional products, followed by outdoor dance performances and the election of the cherry queen, Miss Cerises.
A cherry pit spitting competition takes place and of course visitors can taste and buy a wide variety of cherries - fresh or as cakes, pancakes, schnapps or beer. The evening ends with a fireworks display over the city walls.

Westhoffen Cherry Festival

A week later, on Sunday, the Westhoffen Fireworks organises a gourmet walk to the sights of the village such as the bell gate or the synagogue.
A visit to the orchard is also on the programme.
In the afternoon, a parade of various music groups will follow, with the newly elected Miss Cerises also presenting herself.
