Feast of the Olive

In Brisighella - in the midst of a hilly landscape that protects people, animals and plants from the cold winds - around 300 olive growers cultivate about 70,000 olive trees on an area of 300 hectares.
Hand-picked and cold-pressed, their fruit, mostly of the Nostrana variety, produces the best olive oil with a peppery, pungent flavor, which was awarded the DOP seal of quality as early as 1996.

Black and green olives on the ground

Every November, the inhabitants of the small town of 8,000 inhabitants dedicate a small folk festival to the product honored in this way - with tasting and sales stands, music and dancing.
In addition to the oil, other local agricultural products are also presented - first and foremost the wine: Sangiovese and Merlot, Albana di Romagna or Pignoletti are the names of the grapes from which mostly strong-aromatic wines are produced.
