Festival of the Old Vine

The festivities begin with the harvest: The Zametovka vine still bears an average of around 50 kilograms per year, which are harvested to the applause of onlookers.
On the square in front of it, a hearty stew is simmering - in a swinging kettle under which logs are blazing. And a brass band provides music.

Over the next four weeks, the House of the Old Vine in the center of the university town on the Drava River will be organizing wine and culinary evenings - with tastings and workshops on the special features of Slovenian wines.

There are free guided tours of the Styrian metropolis and hikes through the nearby vineyards. But also markets of farmers and artisans of the region.
A highlight is November 11, Saint Martin's Day: Then not only Maribor celebrates, but the vintners and farmers throughout the country.
