Festival of the Olive Oils of Jaen

Around 63 million olive trees grow in the province of Jaen - ten times more than there are inhabitants in the region
. About 750,000 litres of oil are pressed annually from their fruits: A quarter of world production.
The Andalusians have long since realized that quantity is not everything.

Oro Bailen, Soler Romero or Castillo de Canena: Many of the regionally produced oils regularly sell at trade fairs and are considered the best olive oils in the world.
What the oil barons from Jaen are able to achieve, they show at the festival of the olive oils of the region - every year in a different place.

Freshly pressed olive oil

At the show, different olive oils can be tasted, such as the grassy-bitter Picual or the softer, fruity Arbequina. Olive products - from marmalade and olive pearls to soaps and creams - will also be presented during the event.
And the surrounding bars and restaurants offer cheap olive tapas.

Alter Mühlstein

The town that hosts the event - in 2017 it was Linares, located in the northwest of the province - also organizes various activities: Hikes through one of the province's national parks, a visit to an oil mill or an oil museum.
