Russin Vintage Festival

Viticulture in the canton of Geneva was documented as early as 912
in a cheque to the Augustinian monastery in Satigny.
However, the first vines were probably planted by the Romans more than 2000 years ago.
The Fete des Vendanges of Russin, which marks the opening of the grape harvest, is more recent: since 1965, the municipality on the north bank of the Rhone has celebrated its wine festival every September.

The festival is accompanied by many stalls where you can taste wine and eat local specialities: Cheese fondue from Fribourg, Tartiflette - a potato casserole with Reblochon cheese from neighbouring Haute-Savoie or the famous Longeole, a Geneva sausage made from pork and fennel.

On a tasting course - under the guidance of well-known sommeliers - various wines can be tasted. A music and flower parade will frame the event and there will also be a colourful entertainment programme for children.
