Wine Festival Douja d`Or
Once a year, the Asti Chamber of Commerce invites winegrowers from all over Italy to award prizes for their DOC and DOCG wines.
The National Wine Competition, the Premio Douja d'Or, is embedded in a big wine fair, where for ten days you can taste wine from all Italiens growing areas.
On the second Sunday in September, the Sagre Astigiane opens its doors. Countless actors in traditional costumes enliven the streets of Asti and use historical tools to give an insight into rural life at the beginning of the 20th century.
At Campo del Palio, Italy's largest open-air restaurant invites you to eat: an army of chefs prepares 80 different Piedmontese specialities, which are eaten by 300,000 visitors.
Of course, the specialities and wines can also be tasted and bought at one of the numerous stands.
The festival will also be accompanied by a series of cultural events such as music, theatre performances and readings.
