Weinmuseum in Cariñena

Fine wines from Aragon: The Cariñena wine route

To the south of Zaragoza lies the extensive wine-growing area of La Cariñena - protected by a Denomination of Origin since 1932. The wine route of the same name runs for 42 kilometres through the Ebro Valley, which is framed by the Sierra de Algairén Mountains and the Huerva River.
Hikes through the hilly landscape and visits to numerous bodegas are on the programme. In addition to the wine, there are also monuments from all eras: Remains of the Roman dam at Muel, the church of Longares with its Mudejar tower or a chapel painted by Goya in 1770. Best time to visit: September, during the Cariñena grape harvest festival.

Fish ahoy! - On the German Fish Route

A roll with freshly caught North Sea prawns. A tender fillet of matie with fine onions. Or a golden fried fillet of fried fish: on the North Sea coast between Bremerhaven, Brunsbüttel and St. Peter-Ording, people know how to eat fish. For centuries, fishing has shaped the people and culture of this rugged stretch of land in northern Germany.
A newly established culinary route leads - by bike, camper van or sailboat - over some 360 kilometres to its characteristic places and experience highlights: To the World of experience "Schaufenster Fischereihafen" in Bremverhaven.  To the Watergate information centre in Brunsbüttel or to Glückstadt, where the nationally renowned Matjes Weeks take place every year in June.

Fish pond in Sundgau

Fishermans paradise: The Alsatian Carp Route

Sundgau is the name of a historic landscape in southern Alsace, between Basel, Belfort and Mulhouse. With more than 800 lakes, ponds and pools, the region is a popular destination for amateur fishermen, who are particularly keen on trout and carp.
The latter is the figurehead of the region - and the protagonist of a culinary theme road. Around 30 innkeepers have joined and serve their guests tasty fish turned in either semolina, sesame or poppy seed and are freshly fried. The route to the fish delicacies is peppered with sights such as historic mills, flower-decorated villages, castles and monasteries.
