Apple Festival in Kivik
Österlen, located in the east of the province of Skåne, is Sweden's largest fruit-growing region. Apple trees in particular grow on the fertile soils, and almost 85 percent of the Swedish apple harvest comes from here.
A large part of it is processed on site in Kivik: To apple juice, cider or a gigantic painting that is exhibited at the annual apple festival in September.
Emma Karp Lundström needs around 35,000 apples for her 108-square-metre painting, which weighs three tonnes.
14 of the more than 70 different apple varieties grown in the region provide a colourful arrangement with their different shades of colour.
Although the largest work of art made of apples - according to the Guinness Book of Records - is the main attraction of the event, the real stars are apple growers and their products.
Above all, the Arona, Roter Gravenstein and Signe Tillisch varieties take centre stage: crisp and fresh to bite into, baked into delicious cakes or distilled as high-proof spirits.

Swedish rock musicians and songwriters will perform on the specially erected stage and there will be dance performances by students from the local high school.
