Sant Sadurni d Anoia in the Comarca Alt Penedés proudly calls itself the capital of the Cava. More than 90 percent of Spanish sparkling wine production comes here, and well-known brands such as Freixenet and Codorniú have their headquarters here. Once a year, the community invites champagne connoisseurs to a tasting session: The Cavatast.

Around 50 producers serve around 42,300 glasses, and restaurants, butchers, bakers and chocolatiers serve around 22,000 appetizers: Chorizo or Manchego cheese, Chipirones or Gambas al ajillo, Turrónes or Chuchos with vanilla filling.

In addition to the tastings, they also organise visits to the cava cellars. There are workshops, conferences and tastings led by experts. There will also be an exhibition of artful cava metal caps and a children's programme.
