Dairy farming has shaped the Aspetal in the province of Bearn at the foot of the Pyrenees since time immemorial.
190 farms are spread over 13 villages. 40 000 sheep, 4500 cows and 200 goats feed on the summer pastures.

In 70 small cheese dairies, three different types of cheese are made from these: cow's milk, sheep's milk or a mixture of both.
They can all be tasted at the annual Vallée d'Aspe cheese festival.

Around 90 exhibitors of agricultural and handicraft products show their skills, there is music and traditional dances in the streets, sheep are sheared and cheese is produced.
There is also a children's programme with make-up, pony rides and much more.
