Chianti Classico Wine Festival

One of Italy's most famous wines is Chianti Classico. The red wine - formerly only available in the traditional bast bottle,
the Fiasco - is essentially made from the Sangiovese grape, may only be grown in an area between Florence and Siena, and must comply with the strictest regulations regarding maximum yields, grape mix and ripening period.

The Chianti Consortium, which also organizes the annual Chianti Wine Festival in Greve, watches over the observance of these rules.
For a small fee, visitors to the festival receive a glass with which they can sample eight different wines at the many wine stands. In addition, typical delicacies of Tuscany are offered, such as cheese, salami or olives.

A cultural and artistic program is also part of the four-day event. A historical guided tour of the city, guided tours through the vineyards as well as the surrounding countryside are part of it, as well as readings by regional authors, live music and dancing.
