Dumpling Festival

Filled with minced meat. With cheese and mushrooms. Or sweet, with blueberries: Piroggen are incredibly varied and are a kind of national dish in Poland.
No feast without the tasty dumplings. Especially popular are the Pierogi ruskie - filled with potatoes and quark.

In Krakow, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former royal city in the south of the country, the inhabitants celebrate their Piroggen festival in mid-August - with tasting stands, an extensive music programme ranging from rock and folklore to klezmer and a competition for the tastiest Pirogge.

The jury is made up of visitors to the festival, who can taste salty and sweet pirogi at 15 stands and cast their votes.
The last day of the festival begins at 11 a.m. with a Holy Mass in the Basilica of Saint Mars, followed by a procession to the market square.
