In mid-September - just in time for the wine harvest - the streets and squares of Udine's old town are transformed into a single gourmet mile.
Countless stalls in the car-free centre offer typical Friulian products: Frico con patate, a cheese and potato flat cake roasted in a pan. Polenta with butter, cinnamon and cheese. Or wafer-thin slices of San Daniele ham with fresh, honey-sweet figs.

The high-quality wines from the Collio Orientali are also represented: Pure white wines from the local Ribolla grape, strong reds from the Refosco or Pignolo grape and sweet wines such as Verduzzo.
They are joined by grappa, which has been distilled in Friuli since 1451, and sweets such as pinza - a yeast cake with rum and vanilla.

There is more than just eating and drinking during the four days. Hundreds of musical performances, bands, folklore groups and rock bands enliven historic Udine.
There will be street entertainment and cooking workshops for children and adults. Cultural events, exhibitions and guided tours of museums or local craft workshops.

Lectures on the cultivation of wine, wheat or maize are on the programme, as are symposia on the topic of nutrition.
In addition, each year a specific product and a selected region are the focus of several events organised by the municipality.
