Festival of Malvasia

Malvasia di Candia is an autochthonous white wine variety and is grown mainly in Emilia-Romagna. It usually produces golden-yellow wines with a light muscat aroma.
Researchers suspect its origin in the valleys of the small municipality of Sala Baganza, southwest of Parma.

In 1996, the city fathers of Sala Braganza announced a prize for the best Malvasia in the Parma region, and over the years the event has developed into a popular festival that extends beyond the region's borders.
The focus is of course on the Malvasia wine, which can be tasted at the tasting stands - sometimes accompanied by salami or Parma ham, then again with pasta or a fine cream cake.

Cooking shows, speed cooking and organised picnics provide entertainment and full stomachs. Photo exhibitions and workshops complete the event.
The highlight is then the awarding of the Premio Coséta d`Or for the best Malvasia of the year and the closing open-air concert on Sunday.
