Food Festival in Aarhus

Lots going on at the Aarhus Food Festival

Since the success of celebrity chef René Redzepi at the Noma restaurant, at the latest, Nordic food has been on everyone's lips. His creative interpretations of Nordic dishes have shifted the focus to local, sometimes unusual products from the North.
The Food Festival in Aarhus builds on this and serves visitors - every year in September - the latest gastronomic knowledge and interesting dishes from the North.

In eleven so-called areas, participants will learn about Northern European food in workshops, cooking classes, exhibitions and lectures. They have the opportunity to exchange ideas with food producers, chefs and nutritionists. Learn how rich the maritime pantry off the coast of Denmark is or how different the culinary map of the country presents itself.

And of course, the three-day festival is not short on practicalities: fish and seafood, juicy steaks and dark rye bread, Danish tapas or delicious desserts can be tasted just as much as craft beer from local breweries, wines or artisan distilled spirits.

There will be a special area for children where they will be introduced to the topic of healthy and sustainable nutrition in a playful and age-appropriate way.
The last day of the festival is dedicated to the Danish Hot Dog Championship. The country's best chefs will make suggestions on how to reinterpret the fast-food classic.A jury decides on the winner, and the proceeds from the sale of the hot dogs - last year approx.
228,000 last year - go to the Börne Foundation for the construction of a children's and health centre in Mali.
