Woman produces Pecorino di Filiano

Raw milk from selected sheep of the region. Gently heated curd - and storage in natural tuff grottos for at least 180 days: the cheesemakers from the 30 municipalities in the province of Basilicata put a lot of effort into their Pecorino di Filiano.
Finally, the cheese bears the PDO label for protected designation of origin.

The 20 Casari, the cheese makers, proudly present their Pecorino at the countless tasting and sales stands in the centre of the city.
And show visitors how the cheese is made according to old traditions.

The product show will be accompanied by a cultural programme: a cheese workshop, guided walks to the nearby archaeological sites and the Agromonte Nature Park, musical performances and clown shows.
