South Tyrolean Bread and Strudel Market

Bressanone Cathedral Square

The Paarl from Vinschgau, the Preatl from Pustertal or the Ultentaler Pidl: In the past, every valley in South Tyrol produced its own bread.
Today, industrial pre-baking is the norm here, too.
To preserve the traditional baker's craft, Brixen organises the South Tyrolean Bread and Strudel Market every year.

South Tyrolean Bread and Strudel Market: Straw threshing

At the cathedral Square, South Tyrol's bakers offer local specialities such as Paarl, Pidl or Apfelstrudel and other traditional dishes for tasting.
In the bread workshop, visitors learn everything about bread, from historical development and tradition to recipes and preparation.

There will be guided tours on the subject for school classes and a children's bakery for little bakers.
On Sunday, the bakers and confectioners make their solemn entry into the cathedral, followed by a church service, accompanied by the city's cathedral choir. In addition, the Bressanone Tourist Board organises guided tours and carriage rides through the old town.
