Vintage Festival of Alella

Vintage festival in Alella

With 560 hectares Alella belongs in the northeast of Spain to the smaller wine-growing areas of the country. Around 90 winegrowers produce just 680,000 litres of wine per year.
But when it comes to celebrating, the inhabitants of the 9000 soul community are quite large. The proof? The annual grape harvest festival.

Twelve days are celebrated - with a varied programme: the children are given a grape cut and grape treading in traditional costumes.
Guided tours through the wine cellars, but also through the town first mentioned around 900.

Winegrowers offer their wines for tasting - and are supported in this by the local restaurants, which offer a selection of tapas, matched to the wines of the cultivation work.

Traditional Catalan dances are performed, but also friends of modern rock music get their money's worth.
There are photo exhibitions on wine and a well-known star chef from Barcelona - in 2018 it is Isma Prados, who introduces the world of wine on the main square.
