Kolbasz Festival, Budapest

Peppers and meat are an important part of Hungarian food culture. Especially sausages - Kolbasz - are eaten at any time of the day. The Kolbasz Festival at the Hungarian Railway Museum provides an insight into what the country's butchers can do.

The event is a festival and an agricultural show in one: there are slaughter demonstrations (nothing for weak minds) and workshops in which butchers show how meat, mostly pork, is processed into sausages.
But also exhibitions of animals or agricultural equipment.

Of course, visitors can also try the countless sausages - Budapest's winter salami, debrecziner, Làngolt Kolbász or Csabai sausages - and wash them down with a pàlinka, a schnapps. For children there is a petting zoo and other entertainment.
In the evening bands play live - mostly traditional music.
