Radeberg Beer Festival

Radeberg Beer Festival: Beer Carriage

It was in a wine tavern, of all places, that the idea of brewing one's own beer matured in Radeberg
on the edge of the Dresden Heath in 1872.
Because the local supply was of inferior quality, the town's dignitaries decided to set up their own brewery. Their benchmark was the quality of the bottom-fermented beer brewed in Pilsen, 250 kilometers away.

Radeberg Beer Festival: Parade of the brewers

The project was a success: Today, around two million hectoliters of beer leave the modern production halls every year.
For the city fathers, this is a reason to celebrate. At the Radeberg Beer City Festival in mid-June, visitors can take a guided tour of the brewery and gain an insight into the fine art of brewing beer. And of course, the barley juice can also be tasted at one of the many beer stands.

Radeberger Beer Festival: Children's program

Artisans - blacksmiths, ceramists and jewelry makers - from the neighboring Czech Republic will present their handicrafts at the Kirchplatz, while a large flea market will be held on Röderstraße.
For the children there are various hands-on activities - and in the evening music on the main stage at the market square.

Radeberg Beer Festival: Visitors

The sporting highlight is the beer barrel roll, in which participants have to negotiate a challenging course as quickly as possible.
On Sunday, the Radeberger Funkenflug takes place: A statewide competition of Funkengarden from all over Saxony. Beforehand, visitors can fortify themselves at the early morning pub: With beer, beer sausage and pretzels.
