Radovljica Chocolate Festival

The people of Radovljica, less than six kilometres from Bled, are said to have a penchant for sweets. Gingerbread has been made in the historic bakery of the Lectar Inn since 1766. According to an old recipe and hand-painted. Not quite as old is the chocolate festival, which has been celebrated in the centre of the pretty village since 2013. It is considered the largest of its kind in Slovenia.

During the festival, visitors can savour chocolate products and masterpieces from Slovenian and foreign chocolate manufacturers: pralines and truffles, chocolate cakes and pastries, chocolate-coated fruit, liqueurs and chocolate wine. An extensive festival programme - from a children's circus to cooking workshops, discussion events and concerts - provides entertainment.

The gingerbread museum and the gingerbread workshop are also open. Joze Andrejas and his daughter Mojca will be demonstrating how the famous Radovljica gingerbread is made in the traditional way. Also worth a visit is the beekeeping museum in the castle, which introduces visitors to the world of bees: No honey, no gingerbread.
