Around 5000 eggs are needed. And 200 helpers. In the run-up to the Spaetzle Festival in Blaubeuren, they produce about two tonnes of dough, which is then distributed to the guests over three days.
The Swabians' favourite dish comes in countless variations: The classic Kässpätzle (with Cheese). With lentils or spinach. Spicy or as a mix of "a little bit of everything".

The festival - organised by the d Gerhauser association - begins on Friday evening with rock music. On Saturday, coffee and cake are served first before the event's guest of honour, the spaetzle, return to the plates.
A children's play street, dance and music as well as an ecumenical church service on Sunday are part of the programme.
