Dense forests characterise the surroundings of Zaube, a small town about 80 kilometres from Riga.
Game, mushrooms, berries and herbs are therefore on the menu of the locals - not only during the Wild Food Festival in summer.

The event - organised by the local hunters' and fishermen's association - aims to make a respectful treatment of nature palatable tot he visitors in the truest sense of the word - for example with mushroom, herb or berry hikes.

The programme also includes tastings and cooking workshops, with traditional dishes often being interpreted in a modern way.
There are baking and cooking competitions - for example for the best cake - and of course music.
