Magnolias and clove. Roses and daffodils: Large flower fields characterise the region between Sanremo and Bordighera in Liguria, the so-called Flower Riviera.
But also centuries-old olive groves can be found along the coast. The first oil of the season to be pressed from its fruits is celebrated by the inhabitants of Imperia with a small festival.

During the three-day event in the historic centre of Imperia, visitors can learn a lot about the production of extra virgin olive oil at the olive grower's tasting stands.
And of course you can taste oils as well as other typical regional products.

There will be workshops and cooking courses on the subject of olive oil, wine & food, as well as a qualification for the Pesto World Championship. And in the Museo dell'Olivo you can inform yourself about the tradition and  of olive oil in Liguria. 

Traditionally, the programme includes a ten-kilometre race and a workshop on flower arrangements.
Tours to the numerous oil presses in the Imperial hinterland are organised, but also the sights of the city such as Villa Grock or the birthplace of Giulio Natta can be visited.
